Tliese conditioners do not enter the hair hut remain on the cuticle surface. Their main purpose is to coat the hair and improve the look and feel by adding shine anil moisture. mbt Some of these conditioning rinses are used after perms and chemical straighteners to return the hair hack to its naniral pH balance. This group of conditioners would normally contain:
vegetable and mineral oils
lanolin
fats anil waxes
milil acidic compounds which could be citric or acetic-based.
Penetrating conditioners
Penetrating conditioners have dccpcr-acting benefits. They enter the hair shaft through the cuticle layer and are deposited into the cortex by capillary action. This suction of the product is like a natural magnetism, drawing the pnxluct in to the cellular spaces within the hair. These penetrating conditioners, often called ‘restructurants’. mbt shoes are designed to repair the physical structure of the fibres within the cortex and damaged areas within the cuticle layers. Apart from smoothing the hair and adding shine, they tend to make the whole hair structure much stronger. (Examples are hair strengthened e.g. L’Oreal’s Kerastase Ciment Anti-L’sure or NXella’s liquid Hair.)
Before and after chemical services
Where the cuticle has been damaged, the hair cortex becomes too porous, like a sponge soaking up any chemicals applied to the hair. mbt shoes discontinued Older hair is more likely to be damaged than newer growth. The porosity must be reduced before hair can be successfully permed or coloured. Pre- straightener or pre-perm treatments will balance the porosity evenly through the hair. This enables the chemical service to be carried out in the confidence that no parts of the hair will be unduly damaged through the action of additional chemical application.
The pre-colouring treatments have a similar effect. reebok easytone These products will “fill’ the damaged sites along the hair shaft, repairing the cuticle layer and maintaining an even absorption, i.e. ‘take-up’, of colouring products into the cortex.
After chemical services the hair may need rebalancing. The normal state of hair is slightly acidic (pi 1 5.5) and many of the processes use caustic – ammonium-based compounds – or corrosive – acid-based compounds. mbt discount In these situations it is always advisable to use an acid balancing conditioner. Acid balancing conditioners will act either as an antioxidant to remove unwanted ‘free oxygen’ which may be residual in operations using hydrogen peroxide (e.g. neutralising, colouring and bleaching) or reduce the alkaline state of hair with mild acidic compounds following perming and straightening.
